To celebrate Pride this month, we’re sharing the stories of young creatives showing their pride and proving that love is love. We’ve partnered with GLSEN to introduce an exclusive collection of graphic tees and hats, as well as Fujifilm to curate a Instax Mini Group Show with all profits donated to GLSEN in support of LGBTQ youth. Here we chat with US@UO Nicholas Edmond.
Tell us about yourself and your background.
My name is Nicholas Edmond, I was born and raised in Los Angeles, and I'm 20 years old.
What does love mean to you?
Love is looking at the same thing for hours and enjoying every second of it whether it's your mans, a mirror, or a slice of pizza... that's love!
Are there any people in your life who have been particularly inspiring for you?
My friends. I love them with all of my heart, they're the most loving/funniest people I know they're the reason I'm ok with being me! They let me live my truth without a single drop of judgement. <33
What's something about yourself that not many people know?
Something a lot of people don't know about me is that I was adopted! Officially when I was two but my parents have been taking care of me since I was like a few weeks old.
Why are you proud to be who you are?
I'm proud to be who I am because who I am is me and I'm cool as heck!!!
What is one thing that you wish everyone would remind themselves every day?
That ultraviolence is Lana Del Rey's best album and a true masterpiece #buylustforlifeonitunes
What's next for you?
The world. I'm gonna rule it.
Any advice that you can share that will empower others to be who they are?
Listen nothing is permanent... and one day you're going to die so don't be a jerk and don't waste your time hating yourself there's so much the world has to offer other than sadness, enjoy the beauty in the things around us. And live your truth!! Don't be anyone other than yourself and don't let anyone tell you who YOU are.
Lastly, what do you hope for people to take away from your Fujifilm Instax Film series for the upcoming Space 15 Twenty group show?
Everything and nothing. I want these pictures to just be pictures but I also want them to be words. It's up to you which you pick.
